1999 Seahorse 52 - USD 170,000

The Seahorse 52 has become an exceedingly popular trawler yacht, many have cruised extensively plus one having just completed a circumnavigation has cemented these trawlers as a firm choice in this sector. HQ has been a frequent visitor to Langkawi, carrying Don and Sally 16,000 nautical miles between Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam. HQ is the attractive sedan version, others were built with a flybridge.

The Seahorse Marine company was founded by American Bill Kinley and his wife Stella in Zhuhai, close to Hong Kong and flourishes today. They built to very high standards including elements suc as WBP grade or higher plywood, solid hull layups up to 1 1/2 inches with isopthalic resins, hull / deck joint bedded in epoxy and heavily glassed in and Seahorse Marine may have been the first Far East builder to install tinned copper wire in all their vessels. As the decades have passed it is these factors that have helped establish these boats as such desirable cruising homes.

HQ has two large sleeping cabins, the owner's with an en suite and bath tub. The lack of aft side decks produce one of the most prominent features of the Seahorse 52, a huge saloon and it really shows. Fully aft a neat covered cockpit, with a door opening to a bathing/ swim platform, extends to make a perfect outdoor extension to the saloon. HQ has her galley sited up in the raised pilot house, affording yet more space in the saloon.

Boarding may be made at the starboard gate for entry to the pilothouse or at the stern platform to enter the saloon directly. The Saloon Boasts 240 square feet and is tastefully set out for pure relaxation. The sliding double doors create a large opening that instantly combines the covered outside space with the saloon. The faux wooden deckheads in white give a traditional feel together with the teak and holly soles plus the solid teak joinery is still in excellent condition throughout. Large sliding windows, large fan and a domestic air-conditioning unit ensure 24 hours comfort. The office desk has a 40" SHARP flatscreen computer monitor for all duties. A GRATIC stereo serves two NPE saloon speakers and a pair of FUSION speakers in the cockpit.

Moving up into the pilothouse you have a commanding central helm with twin seat and the U-shaped galley to port. Excellent ventilation again with of course the large pilothouse door plus a large overhead hatch above the helm seat. The galley has an aft facing window that slide open, a large side sliding window plus an extractor fan.

A spiral staircase takes you from the pilothouse down to the front of the vessel with it's generous sleeping arrangments. The owner's aft cabin has its own en suite with a bath tub. This cabin has air-conditioning from a reverse cycle marine aircon unit.
